چکیده
The gas sensing potential of the 9CB (4-cyano-4′-nonylbiphenyl) liquid crystal compound at ambient conditions is investigated. solid room temperature incorporated in a hybrid gel formulation ionic liquid/liquid droplets immobilized gelatin matrix. Several liquids are tested order to tackle crystallization and also 9CB-based mixture with different smectogen considered. resulting demonstrates great analyte responding capabilities can be considered an alternative format for artificial olfaction purposes.

A one-cent room-temperature magnetoelectric sensor.
To the Editor – We face, after over two decades of not-so-benign neglect, a serious deficit of alternative-energy (AE)-oriented basic science researchers. Indeed, a major problem in meeting the global energy challenge may well be the paucity of top scientists pursuing AE-related research problems. This deficit has the potential to self-proliferate, because a limited core of experienced research...
متن کاملRoom Temperature Hydrogen Sensor Based on Single-Electron Tunneling Between Palladium Nanoparticles
In this paper, we present the results of single-electron tunneling in two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal closed packed arrays of palladium nanoparticles. After inspecting the emergence of Coulomb blockade phenomena, we demonstrate the possibilities of using these arrays as a single-electron tunneling based hydrogen sensor. We assumed arrays of palladium nanoparticles with diameters of 3.5 and 6...
متن کاملRoom Temperature Methanol Sensor Based on Ferrite Cobalt (CoFe2O4) Porous Nanoparticles
In this work, porous nanoparticles of ferrite cobalt were prepared by dissolving CoCl2.6H2O and FeCl3 in ethylene glycol in a hydrothermal process. Using ethylene glycol instead of DI water as a solvent would cause to provide porous structure of ferrite cobalt. 0.05 ml of colloidal fluid of fabricated nanostructure was injected on interdigitated electrodes (IDE) on a printed circuit board (PCB)...
متن کاملTuning magnetic spirals beyond room temperature with chemical disorder
In the past years, magnetism-driven ferroelectricity and gigantic magnetoelectric effects have been reported for a number of frustrated magnets featuring ordered spiral magnetic phases. Such materials are of high-current interest due to their potential for spintronics and low-power magnetoelectric devices. However, their low-magnetic ordering temperatures (typically <100 K) greatly restrict the...
متن کاملRoom-Temperature Chemical Synthesis of Silver Telluride Nanowires
We have developed a room-temperature solution-phase route for the preparation of one-dimensional silver telluride nanowires (Ag2Te NWs). The Ag2Te NWs of 600 nm length and 20 nm diameter were synthesized by the reaction of tellurium nanowires (Te NWs) with silver nitrate (AgNO3) in water. We propose that Te NWs act as the template and the reducing agent simultaneously, enabling the formation of...
